Where to Start:
Planning the Ultimate Tradeshow Experience

Planning the ultimate trade show experience can be a challenge. If you’re new to trade shows or you need to update your booth’s look, take note of these easy tips to design a completely new trade show experience for attendees (and for your team!)

Step 1

Plan well in advance to

To Save Money

Trade shows are a major investment for any company, so it’s always ideal to keep expenses low. One of the best ways to do this is by planning ahead.

Here are some items you can book early and save money on:

    • Your trade show booth (many convention centers offer early-bird pricing and discounts)
    • Hotel, airfare, car rentals, and other travel expenses
    • Your trade show booth set up, including all posters, banners and signs, table top displays, and POPs (add links for these products)

Ordering your trade show materials well in advance ensures your trade show printer and display provider will have enough time for kitting and shipping of your items. Unlike Display Design, many printing and display companies are not willing to work faster than their standard turnaround times.

Step 2

Before You Arrive

Think Through Your Entire Booth

There’s nothing worse than arriving at a trade show and realizing you’ve overlooked some crucial component for your display. We recommend practicing setting up at least once before you head out. At Display Design, we’re happy to walk our customers through this crucial stage once they have their materials ready for presentation.

If you’re completing a practice run on your own, check that you have all the components you need for your booth (including banner stands and accessories). It’s particularly important to double-check everything if you’ll be doing demonstrations, taking payments, giving out samples, or offering on-site services.

Step 3

Capture and

Hold Attention

Getting there and setting up is only half the battle. Trade shows often feel like a battle for a critical resource: attention. Once you have your trade show booth booked, you’ll need to plan out how you’ll engage the people attending.

Here are a few out-of-the-box ideas to get more traffic to your trade show booth:

  • Offer a sample or trial
  • Run a contest
  • Create a special trade show offer
  • Create a backdrop people can use for selfies or social media photos (check out our table top displays and fabric displays for ideas)
  • Teach a quick course to attendees
  • Collaborate with nearby booths
  • Use technology to entertain attendees or provide a short presentation
